This was a very busy warbler, it was feeding three cowbird chicks, with no sign of any warbler chicks.

The brown bird is a juvenile, a first year bird. The Scaly breast will grow in by next year.

This flock of birds kept moving between the bushes along the side of drying lake bed and the grasses in the lake bed. They would fly down into the grass a few at a time. Then something would spook them and the whole flock would fly back to the bushes.
Male Pin-tailed Whydah foraging on the lawn.
The long tail is part of the breeding plumage of the males of this species. Pin-tail Whydahs are nest parasites of other estrildid finches. In this park they probably of parasitizing the Scaly-breasted Munia and North Red Bishops. All three are introduced species.

The Raccoon had just wading through the shallow water of this portion of Talbert Lake to a fallen Willow Tree.
